Originally from a small Mediterranean town in Italy, these spindle-shaped red-purple onions grow 4-6” long. Very popular salad onion with tender, mild-flavored red flesh. Enjoy soon after harvesting, as sweet onions are short keepers. Intermediate day length, frost tolerant, and a good cool-weather performer. Start seeds indoors and then transplant seedlings outside 3-4 inches apart. Also plant in fall for overwintering. Give moderate water and full sun. 120 days.
