Dating back to 1892, this beet is the star performer for its wonderful root. Detroit Dark Red is cold hardy, and seeds can germinate and grow in soil temperatures as low as 40 degrees. These mid-sized (up to 3 inches in diameter) roots are tender and sweet, with a smooth, round shape and fine-grained texture. Beets are a cool-weather crop, direct-sown in fall or as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Harvest roots when desired size.
Approx 200 seeds.
